SHEQ Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated individual SHEQ Manager with a strong Health and Safety background to lead the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of our Integrated Management System. The role will focus primarily on Health & Safety, while also supporting Quality and Environmental compliance in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards. 

Huber Technology is an ‘Investors in People’ Gold company which specialises in environmental engineering throughout the world, and with a UK operation based in Chippenham and three regional offices, is focused on delivering wastewater treatment solutions to the UK and Irish water industry. As part of HUBER Technology’s commitment to serving our customers, we provide aftersales care of our machines as well as offering an extensive selection of wastewater treatment machines for short- and long-term hire.

The role is ideally Chippenham based, but for the right candidate we are open to a hybrid arrangement with their willingness to travel to Chippenham regularly. The journey to head office should not exceed more than three hours. The position also involves some travel to customer sites and UK regional offices, whilst it offers the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the UK and our German parent company, delivering visible impact across the business.

 

Key Objectives:

  • Maintain, develop, and continually improve the company’s SHEQ management systems, with a strong emphasis on Health and Safety.
  • Promote a positive SHEQ culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Ensure legal compliance and embed best practices into business operations.
  • Engage with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to optimise SHEQ processes.
  • Support and influence strategic planning to ensure SHEQ forms part of wider business objectives.

 

Core Responsibilities:
 

Health and Safety (Primary Focus):

  • Lead and manage the implementation of ISO 45001 Health & Safety management system.
  • Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, including maintaining risk assessments, legal registers, and incident reports.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and coordinate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Deliver site audits, toolbox talks, SHEQ inductions, and raise awareness of H&S responsibilities.
  • Maintain and review the Health & Safety risk register and ensure operational teams are supported with up-to-date guidance.
  • Represent the company at safety stand-down days, industry groups (e.g. WOSHA), and with customers.

 

Quality:

  • Manage and support the ISO 9001 Quality management system.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits (e.g., certification body, customers, Achilles, CHAS).
  • Lead the Quality Focus Group, manage non-conformances (NCRs), and liaise with our parent company in Germany.
  • Support documentation control, supplier/contractor audits, and tender documentation.

 

Environment:

  • Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System compliance.
  • Maintain the Environmental register and support compliance with waste management requirements and transfer notes.
  • Collect data and contribute to our Carbon Footprint reporting (ISO 14064) and drive sustainability initiatives.

     

Reporting & Communication:

  • Produce monthly SHEQ reports for Directors and the wider management team.
  • Support ERP-based data management and ensure effective document control.
  • Communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

 

Your Profile:

  • NEBOSH qualified (minimum), with Tech IOSH membership desirable.
  • Proven Health & Safety management experience, ideally within engineering, construction, or manufacturing environments.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant UK H&S legislation, ISO 45001, and working knowledge of ISO 9001 & 14001.
  • Able to interpret and apply legislative and customer-specific requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Commercially aware, solution-focused, and customer-driven.
  • IT literate with experience in ERP systems and document control platforms.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • You need to be eligible to work in the UK.
