[...]For high separation efficiencies For any flow rate Easy and reliable screenings transport The HUBER STEP SCREEN® System is widely accepted and successful due to its function and easy-to-follow operation principle as well as the simple cleaning method without any aids (self-cleaning effect according to the counter-current principle). It is furthermore easy to maintain and able to handle extremely big screenings volumes while it offers also a high operational reliability. Design and Function The variable installation angle ensures optimal adjustment to individual hydraulic conditions, such as limited upstream levels due to preceding pumping stations operating reliability due to tailor-made layout The motor linkage drive has been developed from the well-proven link system. To the benefit of our customers we intentionally avoided difficult-to-maintain chain drives. With the new linkage type we are able to master the occurring bending moments on the lamellae, especially with high water levels. The screenings carpet is a structure, the pores of which retain much smaller particles than the actual slot width would allow. This additional filtration effect significantly improves separation efficiency. [...]Cerro Verde, Peru Southwest of Arequipa, the largest mining company in Peru, Cerro Verde, is located. Mainly opencast copper mining is done there and about 453,000 tons of copper are mined per year. This makes Cerro Verde one of the top 5 mines in the world. The company operates a total of 6 wastewater treatment plants, which were equipped with 58 HUBER machines in 2015. Among others, 12 HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax ® units and 12 HUBER STEP SCREEN ® SSV, 10 HUBER Wash Press WAP ® and 10 HUBER Screw Conveyor Ro8T units are installed there. As the HUBER STEP SCREEN ® in particular has to handle exceptionally high grit loads, its lamellae are subject to very high wear and tear and must therefore be regularly inspected and replaced to maintain high screen performance. Due to this fact and the associated expenses, our customer initially tried to save costs for these original spare parts and had them manufactured locally. However, this only led to short-term savings as the locally manufactured lamellae for our HUBER STEP SCREEN ® SSV units did not match the high manufacturer quality of HUBER original spare parts. In addition to the very short service life of the parts, they also caused far more expensive damages to the machines. As part of a HUBER service consultant tour, our service consultant visited all the mine's wastewater treatment plants. Together with the responsible operating personnel, a detailed inventory and condition assessment of all machines was carried out. It was pointed out to the customer that only HUBER original spare and wear parts meet the requirements of our machines and that only by professional installation of these original parts all machine components matched to them will function optimally and without defects. Since then, the customer has only trusted in original HUBER spare and wear parts and is absolutely satisfied with them. Through our HUBER Service Centre in Peru we can offer our customers the best possible HUBER Service support on site. We would like to thank everyone for the confidence placed in us and hope for continued good cooperation between our South American customer Cerro Verde, HUBER Global Service Germany and HUBER Service Peru.[...]
[...]Toronto, Canada In May 2025, Kevin Schneider embarked on the first service consultant tour of Canada – a country that impresses not only with its scenery, but also with its openness to sustainable environmental technology. In his report, Kevin recounts his journey, which offered a unique combination of intensive customer support and unforgettable experiences. One country, two oceans, and one goal: customer proximity The journey took me from Toronto via Calgary to the west coast and Vancouver Island. The tour in the Toronto region was organised by our subsidiary, HUBER Canada. In Calgary and Vancouver, coordination was handled jointly by our long-standing representative Ramtech and HUBER Canada. The aim of the trip was to visit customer sites, solve technical challenges together on site and further strengthen our international service network. Week 1: Toronto – Edmonton – Calgary Toronto, Ontario The tour began in Toronto, the economic hub of Canada. Accompanied by a colleague from HUBER Canada, I visited several wastewater treatment plants in the greater Toronto area where HUBER machines have been operating successfully for years. Our systems' reliability was particularly impressive, even under Ontario's sometimes extreme climatic conditions. Our customers were impressed and very grateful for the direct support provided by a HUBER service consultant from Germany. Edmonton & Calgary, Alberta In the province of Alberta, our representative Ramtech accompanied me on customer visits in Edmonton and Calgary. The focus here was on technical consultations, plant inspections and training. In Calgary in particular, valuable feedback on installed machines was gathered and translated into concrete improvement measures. Week 2: Vancouver – Kelowna – Vancouver Island (Tofino, Victoria), British Columbia Vancouver and the surrounding area At the start of the second week, the tour took me to Vancouver and the surrounding area. Together with Ramtech, I visited several wastewater treatment plants between Vancouver and Kelowna. The focus was on technical upgrades, condition assessments and training. Of particular note was the keen interest of the operators in practical support and technical training. Tofino and Victoria – local municipal and industrial customers Between Tofino and Victoria, I visited local municipal and industrial customers. I was particularly pleased to visit the completely newly built wastewater treatment plant in Tofino, which is fully equipped with HUBER machines. The operator was extremely satisfied with the performance and user-friendliness of the new systems. The other customer visits on the island were also very positive. Direct support from a German service consultant was, as at all other stops, greatly appreciated and seen as a strong signal of our customer focus. In conclusion: Canada marks a milestone in our global service approach The service consultant tour of Canada was a complete success, both professionally and personally. Direct interaction with customers, excellent organisation by HUBER Canada and Ramtech, and a variety of technical challenges made the trip a milestone. I would particularly like to mention the positive feedback from customers, who greatly appreciated the personal support from Germany. I am already looking forward to future tours in North America, now that the foundations for continued successful cooperation have been established.[...]

[...]High separation efficiency of up to 75 μm Small footprint Integrated floating material separation Ideal for high grit loads The new HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf® is different from space-consuming aerated grit channels as it consists of an aerated and an unaerated grit trap chamber. Applications: New wastewater treatment plants Grit trap refurbishment Pre-treatment for membrane bioreactors (MBRs) Design and Function In the first smaller chamber of the HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf® the wastewater is exposed to medium-bubble aeration. Floatable particles rise to the water surface where they accumulate and are removed by a paddle system just before the outlet. The second chamber is unaerated and equipped with lamella units. Due to the deep flow approach and the advantages of a lamella separator, the GritWolf® reliably removes even very fine grit. The grit trap tank is usually made of concrete, stainless steel tanks are however available as an option for smaller plant sizes. The GritWolf® can also be integrated into existing grit trap chambers. The horizontal grit conveyor, the lamella packages and the paddle system for grease removal are manufactured from corrosion-resistant material. The grit is removed axially from the HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf® by a time-controlled horizontal screw conveyor. Even large ‘sand dunes’ occurring under stormwater conditions (stormwater flushes) are therefore evenly dosed into the suction area of a grit pump. The grit pump delivers the grit-water mix into a HUBER Coanda Grit Washer RoSF4 that produces clean grit in a proven way, thus perfecting the entire grit treatment system. Benefits of the HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf® 95% separation of particles size ≥ 75 μm Small footprint and space-saving compact design Low pressure loss Regulated supply of grit to the grit pump by horizontal screw conveyor Floating material separation with automatic forced removal (option) < 3% loss on ignition with downstream grit washing[...]
[...]Wackersdorf, Germany The aim of the waste management industry is the processing of sands and mineral waste into recyclable fractions. Decisive for the competitiveness of a waste management company is the economic acceptance and treatment of the input material. Especially the low operating costs as well as the low maintenance requirements of the HUBER machine technology form the basis for the economic efficiency of the sand treatment process. Furthermore, HUBER technology ensures a consistently high quality of the recyclable fractions. This, in turn, provides the waste management company with planning reliability and an additional market advantage. The sewer service provider and waste management company Hammerer Kanalservice has recognised these benefits and will meet the steadily growing customer demand for grit disposal in 2020 by implementing the HUBER Grit Treatment System RoSF5. Hammerer's tanker vehicles will deliver the grit from municipal sewage treatment plants and from industrial grit traps, and also sewer grit. The first step of the process is the delivery of the liquid phase from the tanker vehicles. For this purpose, the operator connects the vehicle via the hose directly to the Perrot connection provided for this purpose. With the HUBER system the liquid phase can be reused and recirculated as service water. Cost-intensive fresh water supply is therefore not necessary for plant operation. This is a significant advantage, because compared to municipal wastewater treatment plants, the process water in industrial companies is not available in sufficient quantities and quality and not without costs. The solid phase is then discharged in the dewatering site. Due to the specific installation situation, the grit from the dewatering site is fed to the HUBER Grit Acceptance Tank RoSF7 by wheel loader. In general, the grit acceptance area is always planned and implemented according to customer specifications. Alternatively, the grit can also be fed into the HUBER acceptance tank, for example, directly via the tanker vehicle or by means of a crane system. The screw conveyor integrated in the grit acceptance tank automatically doses the material into the HUBER Wash Drum RoSF9. In the wash drum, the fraction < 10 mm is washed out by homogenisation. Coarse material > 10 mm is separated by the inclined screening drum, statically dewatered and discharged into the customer-provided bin. In addition, a magnet is provided for metal separation. The coarse materials are disposed of by the operator and the metals are sold after presorting. In the next process step the HUBER Coanda Grit Washing Plant RoSF4 further processes the grit-organics-water mix (fraction < 10 mm). Based on the Coanda effect and the physical principle of density separation, the HUBER Grit Washer separates the mineral components from the organic matter. This mineral fraction < 10 mm is statically dewatered by the discharge screw and profitably resold as valuable material for recultivation. The multifunctional HUBER Compact Plant ROTAMAT ® Ro5 then separates the organic and fine sand components in only one process step. Both the organic and fine sand are dewatered by separate screw conveyors and can be sold immediately and profitably for recultivation and backfilling of open pits. The quality of the effluent from the HUBER Compact Plant ROTAMAT ® Ro5 is sufficient for the wash water supply for the HUBER Wash Drum RoSF9. The remaining wastewater is finally treated to clear water by the HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant HDF. This clear water is reused as internal process water for the Grit Washer and the Complete Plant. In addition, Hammerer uses the clear water for refuelling their tanker trucks. A disinfection plant ensures sterility. The internal and external use of clear water reduces operating costs to a minimum, as no cost-intensive fresh water supply is necessary. In addition, there is no wastewater subject to charges. Furthermore, no additional compressed air is required for the saturation system of the HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant HDF, which has another positive influence on the operating costs of the overall plant. Dissolved Air Flotation sludge is mechanically dewatered. The project example Hammerer shows that the turnkey HUBER Grit Treatment System RoSF5 is the solution for adaptive, low-cost grit treatment that guarantees a constant high quality of the recyclable fractions. With its grit treatment system, HUBER makes an important contribution to the efficient use of resources.[...]
