[...]On July 5, politicians of the administrative district Neumarkt visited HUBER SE under the heading of “Innovation Exchange – Politics Meets Business”, among them State Minister Albert Füracker, head of the district authority Willibald Gailler and the mayor of Berching, Ludwig Eisenreich. On that occasion, they attended also the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of HUBER's production hall by another 2,600 square metres. Albert Füracker and Ludwig Eisenreich congratulated HUBER on the new plant extension and promised to contribute their part to make the local living environment as attractive as possible to counter the problem of progressing skills shortage in the region. Dr. Rong gave a brief overview of the company history dating back to the year 1786, especially referring to the milestones in the company’s product portfolio. Dr. Rong further added: “HUBER employs presently about 700 people at its Berching headquarters and about 1200 worldwide. This makes HUBER one of the most successful and innovative medium-sized companies that are 100% in the hands of the family.”. Chief Sales Officer Rainer Köhler then presented the current topics sewage sludge disposal and microplastics filtration. HUBER offers innovative solutions for both fields, including phosphorus recovery through sewage sludge incineration. To illustrate this, he presented an example of calculation for the town of Neumarkt. “We have the technologies that can solve the current problems, now it is up to the municipalities to use them”, he concluded and invited everyone to now put the spades in the ground. With the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the extension of the production hall at the headquarters at Erasbach, the environmental company is taking another step forward in persuing its development concept, increasing its capacities in final assembly and improving the flexibility of the dispatch department. [...]HUBER SE recently organised the 1st HUBER Milk Day in cooperation with the dairy company Jäger GmbH. Nearly 50 representatives from the dairy industry came to inform themselves about the subject wastewater directly at Milchwerk Jäger GmbH at Haag near Munich. After the welcoming speeches of the companies participating, Mr. Alvaro Carozzi from the engineering office Steinle at Weyarn explained the fundamentals of wastewater treatment and the general process technologies. Beside legislation topics, he placed the focus on typical methods applied to treat dairy wastewater. HUBER SE informed then about products and solutions for the food industry in general and specifically for the dairy industry. In addition to wastewater treatment topics, it was also dealt with issues of the future, such as water and heat recycling, residue utilisation (dewatering/drying) and cooling of wastewater by means of heat exchangers. Besides, current projects involving these subjects were presented. Mr. Michael Kreisel of Bayerische Milchindustrie eG presented their sludge dewatering concept at the location Jessen where a HUBER Screw Press Q-PRESS® is used to dewater the generated flotate sludge. At the end of the block of presentations, Mr. Stefan Steinle (deputy director of operations) finally explained the wastewater concept of Milchwerk Jäger GmbH. The special feature of this plant is the combination of indirect discharge of treated process wastewater (pretreated by dissolved air flotation) and direct discharge of the vapours and permeate after treatment in a MBR plant. The complete equipment is installed underground. Before the event was concluded at a local restaurant, the participants was shown the wastewater treatment plant installed at Milchwerk Jäger on a tour of the site.[...]
[...]Innovative solutions to increase water and energy efficiency Innovative solutions to increase water and energy efficiency HUBER will present a comprehensive range of products and solutions for the fields of drinking water supply, wastewater treatment and sludge treatment at IFAT 2018 from May 14 to 19 in hall A2 (booth no. 351). On a stand area of 1,100 m² HUBER will show a number of technology highlights in the form of real machines and plants, videos, animations and true to detail models. Experienced HUBER specialists will be available for advice for all national and international customers. One of the major topics for HUBER is digitalisation. By the example of implemented installations and projects – screens, sludge treatment plants and after-sales service – HUBER will give concrete examples that show the possibilities of digitalisation in the field of wastewater and sludge treatment and the enormous potential for future development towards Water 4.0. Sludge Treatment The worldwide successfully operated HUBER Screw Press Q-PRESS ® will present itself in three design sizes at IFAT 2018. The machine design has been further optimized and offers now best dewatering efficiency with maximum energy efficiency. Easy operation and maintenance combined with small space requirements are additional advantages of this machine. With certain types of sludge, the dewatering efficiency can be influenced positively with the use of the newly developed HUBER Inline Mixer IPM . Through an adjustable energy input, even highly viscous and fibre-containing sludge can optimally be flocculated and the performance data of the sludge dewatering system thus influenced positively. A new size of the HUBER Sludgecleaner STRAINPRESS ® will be presented to experts and professionals for the first time at IFAT 2018. The STRAINRESS ® 420 is the new development of an inline sludge screening system for throughputs up to 150 m³/h. Coarse material separation and dewatering is performed in one process step. The machine can be integrated into pressure fed pipeline systems. Different screen perforation sizes enable the separation of fibre plaits from sewage sludge as well as the removal of plastic particles from fermentation residues. HUBER has implemented numerous national and international thermal sewage sludge treatment projects. For all solar sewage sludge drying projects, HUBER relies on the HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE ® in combination with the innovative HUBER climate control system . As a result of continuous further development, HUBER solar sewage sludge dryers excel for their excellent operational reliability, maximum energy efficiency and easiest operation. The HUBER Belt Dryer BT is a suitable alternative to solar sewage sludge drying. Due to its modular design the belt dryer can be adjusted to specific site conditions both energetically and in its design. Furthermore, innovative concepts for heat extraction from the drying process enable the maximum recovery of energy. The recovered energy can for example be fed to a local heating network. Mechanical Wastewater Treatment As HUBER is a global market leader in the field of mechanical wastewater treatment, we will of course show our latest further developments of screens as well. In addition to the latest design version of the worldwide known HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax ® , which will be shown in the different variants RakeMax ® HF, RakeMax ® J and RakeMax ® Hybrid, we will exhibit other well-proven HUBER screens, such as the HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax ® , HUBER Coarse Screen TrashMax ® , HUBER Rotary Drum Fine Screen ROTAMAT ® units and the HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID . At IFAT 2018, HUBER will for the first time present its newly developed HUBER Belt Screen CenterMax ® . This screen has been developed especially for deep and narrow channels and can be applied as both a first treatment stage or a pre-screening system upstream of membrane plants. Due to a fine-tuned range of design sizes we can offer the perfectly suitable machine for throughputs up to 10,000 m³/h. As a special IFAT highlight we will present the worldwide unique HUBER Safety Vision system. This innovative contaminant detection system for screens uses high-tech sensors to continuously measure the form and size of the coarse materials transported by the screen rake. Whenever the system detects any impermissible coarse material, the screen will be stopped and a warning message sent to the plant operators. Unintentional blockage or damage of the screen or downstream units is reliably prevented by the contaminant detection system. As a specialist for solids-liquid separation, HUBER has intensely been engaged in, among other, the field of grit separation for decades. With the newly developed HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf ® HUBER is setting new standards in grit separation. Due to optimized inflow conditions combined with the advantages of a lamella separator, the HUBER Grit Trap GritWolf ® is able to separate 90% of grit of grain size ≥ 75 µm.The new GritWolf ® grit trap is available in several sizes for flow rates from 160 m³/h (1 MGD) to 3,150 m³/h (20 MGD). With the HUBER CarbonWin ® System , HUBER offers an interesting possibility of retrofitting sewage treatment plants to change from an aerobic to an anaerobic sludge stabilisation process. The first process step of the HUBER CarbonWin ® System is a mechanical treatment stage followed by a grit and grease trap. A HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID is installed downstream of this assembly. The effluent from the drum screen is fed to the aerobic treatment system, whereas the separated fine screenings are thickened and passed on to anaerobic treatment in a digester. Filtration and Membrane Technology For the removal of micropollutants, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals or hormones, which are increasingly the focus of public discussion, HUBER offers for the fourth treatment stage adsorptive elimination of such substances with the use of granulated active carbon. The heart of this process is the HUBER Active Carbon Filter CONTIFLOW ® GAC , the efficiency of which can be further increased by combining it with preceding ozonisation. The HUBER Membrane Filtration VRM ® 50 we presented for the first time at IFAT 2016 has proven well in practice, impressing with excellent performance in terms of clarification and energy efficiency. Industrial Solutions In another field of focus, HUBER shows its competence and experience in industrial wastewater treatment for numerous industry sectors. At IFAT 2018, HUBER will primarily focus on solutions for the disposal and paper industry and dairy and meat processing industry . Drinking Water Safety Drinking water safety is a matter of special importance for HUBER. At IFAT 2018, we will show several practical solutions of burglary prevention for objects in the field of drinking water supply and wastewater treatment which need to be protected. With a number of exhibits, we will demonstrate our further developments in the field of attack-proof doors and manhole covers certified to resistance class RC3 according to DIN EN 1672. After-Sales Service Extensive, worldwide available after-sales service has been an indispensable element of our portfolio of services for many years already. IFAT 2018 will be an excellent opportunity for the operators of HUBER machines to meet our service specialists in person and obtain first-hand information from the HUBER experts about original HUBER spare parts , HUBER repairs and HUBER maintenance contract options. Our especially developed condition monitoring system HUBER Operation Control is another step forward in providing the most optimized support to our customers and all operators of HUBER machines. The company emphasizes the high importance of its headquarters and local production facilities for the company's further business success and has again invested into the expansion of it production capacities. Due to the necessity to meet the challenges of the present and future growth, another building project has been finished which provides additional production capacities. The official inauguration ceremony took place on October 28, 2014 in the presence of representatives of the board of directors, supervisory board, works council and guests of honour from politics and economy. Ludwig Eisenreich, mayor of Berching, proudly reflected in this speech all the company's building projects that have been completed in the past with unfailing regularity. Since 1992, numerous building permissions (see box) for the expansion of office and production capacities at Berching have been issued: "Berching needs visionaries like the Huber family". The municipality would be glad to provide the infrastructure required for such exemplary entrepreneurship, he said. Willibald Gailler, head of the district authority, and state secretary Albert Füracker expressed their thanks for HUBER's loyalty to the location Berching, the company's innovativeness and local social engagement. The new production hall received a blessing from the Berching parish priest Arthur Wechsler. Now as this new hall has been completed the company's production capacities have grown by another 2,200 m² and 40 additional work places. This latest project has been the logical consequence of the company's previous building measures. Vice CEO Dr. Oliver Rong, responsible for engineering & production, added that the new hall has been planned and built with a special focus on improving working conditions and energy efficiency. The hall has therefore a modern concrete floor which allows for low-vibration transports with forklifts and lifting trucks. Furthermore, the hall is equipped with modern LED lamps for better illumination and significantly reduced energy consumption. With this new production hall HUBER is able to further manufacture competitive wastewater products at the location Berching and has laid the foundations for the company's continued success. Huber for his outstanding engineering achievements in the field of technical environmental protection. Hans G. Huber is the managing director of Hans Huber AG, Berching and winner of the German Environmental Award 2006. The technical university of Munich honours an entrepreneur who, as an engineer and scientist, has rendered outstanding services to technical environmental protection, as appreciated in the laudation. As one of the first entrepreneurs in Germany, Hans G. Huber recognized the global aspect of the water and wastewater issue. Wastewater is value material – On the basis of this principle Huber has developed numerous innovations and offered them as tailor-made technical solutions. His solutions for Europe are based upon state-of-the-art high technology, while sturdy design is the characteristic feature of the fresh water and wastewater treatment systems developed for and marketed in developing and emerging countries. Hans Huber’s vita reflects the both successful and responsibility demanding combination of scientific creativity with technical know-how and entrepreneurial foresight. Born on 6 September 1942 in Neumarkt i.d. Oberpfalz, he finished his process engineering studies at the technical university of Munich in 1967 as a graduate engineer. In 1968 he started to develop the small medium-sized family business into a modern company. Today, with its 750 employees (500 of which in Germany) and a turnover of 100 million Euro, the Hans Huber AG counts among the internationally leading water, wastewater and waste technology enterprises. As a scientifically orientated entrepreneur, Hans G. Huber has always operated closely with the technical universities of Munich, Aachen and Darmstadt. He spoke personally at various international conferences and published in renowned journals, such as Water Science & Technology. He is speaker of the DWA (German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste) and is a member in several expert committees.
