[...]With the HUBER RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen we have risen to the challenge of increased requirements on future wastewater treatment. New technical developments combined with innovative manufacturing technology ensure the HUBER RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen is ahead of future requirements in wastewater treatment. Maximum corrosion protection is an indispensable prerequisite in wastewater treatment. HUBER has used a pickling bath for many years already to achieve the optimum passivation of stainless steel surfaces. Increasing requirements (chemicals in filter inlet) and increased use of the Disc Filter for filtration in coastal areas (salt water) made it necessary to go new ways. HUBER has therefore developed a new type of discs with a high-quality polypropylene base frame. In addition to increased corrosion resistance, this new type of discs has other positive effects that open up new market chances: Due to their significantly reduced weight the maximum possible number of discs for one machine can be increased from 20 to 30. The resulting 50% increase in throughput per machine makes the micro screen affordable also for the operators of big treatment plants who want to upgrade their plants. The new design also permits easy replacement of the filter mesh (stainless steel or optionally polyester). The filter mesh is attached to the flat frame and can be replaced without the need to dismount the discs. The method of how the mesh is fixed to the flat frame should be pointed out especially. In contrast to other common micro screening technologies on the market, the mesh of the RoDisc® screen is not glued onto the frame but attached and embedded by means of a special patented thermal process. At the point of attachment the mesh is completely sheathed by the plastic flat frame material so that a form-locked connection and thus 100% protection of the attachment point against external influences is achieved. Reliable and permanent mesh fixture is guaranteed independent of the use of chemicals for the reduction of phosphate or endocrine substances. [...]For the protection of our most valuable resource – water Sustainability is of greatest importance in the field of water supply when investments are planned to modernise and refurbish elevated reservoirs, wells and pressure increasing plants. HUBER has convincing solutions to offer, one of them is the technically mature and high-quality safety door RC3. Many of this type of door have meanwhile been installed on a number of sites. Customers appreciate particularly its functionality and attractive appearance. In most cases, the doors can be installed without problems by the customers' qualified personnel themselves. Some plant operators have developed their own standards and design versions of HUBER RC3 doors. Leibnitzerfeld Wasserversorgung GmbH for example has equipped the exterior surfaces of all its HUBER doors with a steel sheet panel to protect them against sunlight. Where possible, a stainless steel frame is added to the RC3 safety doors to cover the wall. Also the process of project handling has been recognised as positive, including the field measures taken on site and the questionnaires for doors that have been worked out by the HUBER field service together with the responsible water masters. HUBER RC3 safety doors not only fit perfectly into the overall picture of each individual smaller or larger project, they significantly improve the protection of our most important resource, our water. [...]Prevents clogging and tressing in the pumping station Compact unit, easy to fit into confined spaces Dewatering and compaction of screenings Optional frost-protected unit for outdoor operation Sturdy, low-maintenance stainless steel design Pumps and lifting units are used where wastewater needs to be lifted to a higher level so that it can be passed further on by gravity. However, the solids contained within the wastewater frequently lead to pump failure. Labour-intensive manual cleaning is required to restore the function of the units, or they may need to be replaced, both resulting in high long-term costs. Reliable solids removal is therefore the only alternative to maintain the operating stability of the pumps. Design and Function The HUBER Pumping Stations Screen ROTAMAT® RoK4 is the ideal solution for this task, whether for new structures or refurbishment. Contrary to conventional screening systems which require manual cleaning, the screen surface of the HUBER Pumping Stations Screen ROTAMAT® RoK4 is cleaned automatically. The screen Vertically lifts the screenings, and dewaters and compacts them at the same time. The compacted screenings are discharged into a container or endless bagger for further disposal thus eliminating odour nuisance and pump failure due to clogging. The screen consists of a vertical perforated screen basket and a shafted auger in a vertical tube. The wastewater flows through an inflow connection and a chamber into the screen basket. Within the screen basket the flights of the screw are equipped with wear-resistant brushes for effective cleaning of the screen. As the screenings are gradually elevated by the auger, they are dewatered. The compacted screenings are discharged into a container or endless bagger thus eliminating odour nuisance. The screened wastewater flows off by gravity or is pumped to a higher level. The filtrate drains through a hose back into the inlet chamber. The top of the inflow chamber is open and serves as an emergency bypass so that the machine can be submerged without problems, e.g. in case of a power failure. The integrated bottom step prevents back-flooding into the sewer system and thus undesired deposits in the incoming sewer. [...]Machines and plants for wastewater treatment are usually installed as permanent installations in structures and buildings due to process engineering necessities. This usually requires extensive preliminary investigations, studies, concepts, planning, authorisations, tenders and construction phases involving and coordinating a wide range of different trades. This is usually a lengthy, costly and capital-intensive process. Systems that are not permanently installed but temporarily rented are the alternative. Their short-term availability is also particularly advantageous, which is why rental systems can also be selected for short-term breakdowns, construction work or to bridge a gap. With fixed monthly payments, this model offers many industries an interesting option to the large amount of capital tied up in permanent installations. Such rental systems have been and continue to be in demand, particularly from the industrial sector, but also from municipal plant operators, and we are already supplying them with machines from the HUBER pilot plant and used machine stock. Due to the steady increase in enquiries, HUBER is now starting the targeted expansion of the business for rental plants, including the necessary services. [...]Baden-Württemberg, Germany A fourth treatment stage is currently being built at the sewage treatment works in Schwäbisch Hall, Markgröningen-Talhausen, Vörbach-Pfalzgrafenweiler and Meßkirch in Baden-Württemberg. These treatment works have opted for the GAC (German: GAK) process, which uses granulated activated carbon for adsorption. Upstream of the trace substance removal stages, there is a multi-stream pre-filtration system at each site, all of which have been equipped with the new HUBER Pile Cloth Media Filter RotaFilt®. These reliably protect the subsequent GAC‑adsorption process from dirt and contaminants, thereby ensuring stable and low-maintenance plant operation. In Vörbach-Pfalzgrafenweiler, twelve HUBER Activated Carbon Filter CONTIFLOW® GAK units are used as the GAC stage. Trace substance removal and phosphorus removal At the Eglosheim-Ludwigsburg wastewater treatment plant, powdered activated carbon is dosed directly into the biological stage to remove trace substances. Here, cloth filtration acts as a conventional final filtration stage and ensures that no loaded activated carbon particles from the secondary clarifier enter the receiving watercourse. In all five projects, cloth filtration can also be operated in combination with coagulant dosing as flocculation filtration, should the most thorough possible removal of phosphorus be required. Outlook and project status All five plants are still under construction at present. The fourth-stage treatment facilities in Schwäbisch Hall and Eglosheim-Ludwigsburg are expected to be operational by 2026. The other projects are expected to be operational in 2027.[...]

These are installed vertically and fitted with special filter bags made of innovative pile cloth. The pile cloth has a multi-dimensional structure and consists of a filter-active pile cloth layer and a supporting mesh. The wastewater that enters the filter chamber flows continuously through the individual filter discs from the outside to the inside. Particulate matter is reliably retained in the pile cloth structure. Due to the retention of solids, the filter resistance increases and the difference between the water levels on the wastewater and clear water side rises. At a certain pressure loss, the gradual cleaning of the filter discs begins. During this process, retained solids are reliably and effectively removed from the rotating filter elements via suction bars. The round filter discs ensure that no dead zones are created during the cleaning process.
