[...]After 41 years, Hans Huber and Karl-Josef Huber retire from their position as managing directors. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Hans Huber and his brother Karl-Josef Huber have given up their position as CEOs but will stay with the company as members of the supervisory board. With Hans Huber’s son Georg Huber and Dr.-Ing. Oliver Rong, son-in-law of Karl-Josef Huber, the sixth Huber generation has taken over the management of the company that has been family owned for 175 years. With effect from 1st January 2010 Georg Huber is CEO of HUBER SE and further in charge of finances and personnel. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Rong is Vice CEO and in addition in charge of production, engineering/design and purchasing. Dr.-Ing. Johann Grienberger (in charge of technology) and Rainer Köhler (in charge of sales) complete the board of directors. In 1968, when the two brothers Hans and Karl-Josef Huber took over the former Hans Huber GmbH from their father, the company counted just about 25 employees. By focusing on the material stainless steel and the water sector they managed to develop the locally acting company into a global player. Today, with 500 employees at its headquarters in Berching, HUBER manufactures more than 2000 machines each year in its state-of-the-art factory that is highly specialised on processing stainless steel. Over 25,000 HUBER machines have been sold worldwide since the nineteen eighties. HUBER's global presence in over 60 countries consists of 25 subsidiary offices and numerous agencies throughout the international market for wastewater treatment, sludge treatment and process technology. In total, about 900 employees worldwide work for the HUBER group. The young generation of the Huber family with Georg Huber and Dr. Rong emphasize they will continue to pursue the policy Hans Huber and Karl-Josef Huber have felt committed to. It is also their goal to develop and produce in Berching innovative products and solutions for the international markets and sell them all over the world via HUBER’s worldwide network of subsidiaries, agencies and representative offices. [...]We are deeply saddened to announce that our former shareholder, managing director and supervisory board chairman Mr. Karl-Josef Huber passed away after a long and serious illness on Friday, 24th June 2016, at the age of 69. It was back in 1967 when he joined his parents' company before taking over the company management in 1969 together with his brother Hans Huber. At that time, 25 people were employed in the company. By focusing on the material stainless steel and the issue "water" the two brothers developed the family business from a small, regional enterprise into an internationally operating company with a worldwide established reputation. Clear visions combined with courageous decisions and a great sense of responsibility for the local area and its employees have made HUBER the company it is today, with 700 employees working at the headquarters in Berching from where HUBER products are sold all over the world. A key success factor in this process has been, and still is, the HUBER production which, under the management of Karl-Josef Huber, developed from a small handicraft business to a state-of-the-art facility where a wide range of machines and plants are manufactured. Over all the years, he was tireless in his efforts to continuously extend and further develop the production facilities to ensure that high-quality products can be manufactured cost-effectively at the location Berching and delivered to the global customers on schedule. Due to a high vertical range of manufacture it has been possible to permanently incorporate innovative product ideas very quickly into the production process. It was of vital importance in this respect that the two brothers decided in 1992 to build a completely new manufacturing plant on a greenfield site. At that time, HUBER achieved an annual turnover of approx. 60 million Euro and invested 20 million Euro into the new production facilities in the industrial area Berching-Erasbach. Under the management of Karl-Josef Huber, who called the project "my baby", the production area grew to finally 25,000 m². HUBER machines and plants are well-known and renowned for their high quality. A large number of customers come to visit the HUBER production each year and leave highly impressed by the variety of products we manufacture and the according manufacturing processes. With great sadness we mourn the death of Karl-Josef Huber. His personality and lifetime achievements will always have a place of honour in our company and its history and build the basis for all our future work. [...]On 24th October Karl-Josef Huber was awarded the State Medal by the Bavarian State Ministry of economics, infrastructure, transport and technology for his outstanding achievements for the Bavarian economy. When Karl-Josef Huber took over the family business in 1968 together with his brother, the company counted 25 employees. Since that time it has continuously grown, meanwhile HUBER SE has become a firmly established global player in the field of water and wastewater technology. About 950 employees worldwide work in the HUBER Group and its subsidiaries around the globe, 550 of them at the company headquarters in Berching. At the beginning of 2010, Karl-Josef Huber left the board of directors and became a member of the supervisory board. In his new position he is, of course, still available with help and advice. In his laudation for the highest Bavarian award State Minister Martin Zeil pointed out that HUBER has kept its core production at Berching despite ever increasing export sales, true to the motto ‘Active worldwide – At home in Bavaria’. With loyalty to its roots, the company has always taken seriously its responsibility to train and educate employees. Today, more than 50 trainees work in various skilled trades and dual study courses. Furthermore, Karl-Josef Huber has always been aware of the importance of environmental protection. Still in his position as managing director he employed an environmental protection manager. Karl-Josef Huber placed the focus not only on the manufacture of products for environmental protection but also on eco-friendly production processes that meet all applicable environmentally relevant standards. The audience was also reminded of Karl-Josef Huber’s exemplary commitment he showed in his position as municipal councillor from 1990 to 2002 with a significant influence on the development of his home town. In addition, HUBER SE has always sponsored various events and supported projects of social facilities, local associations, sports clubs and schools. Proud of his lifetime achievement, Karl-Josef Huber accepted the State Medal with great pleasure. The Ludwig-Erhard hall in the Bavarian State Ministry with its extraordinary ambience was the perfect location to hold the award ceremony and hand over the State Medal to 14 special persons.[...]
[...]In September 2011, HUBER SE was officially granted the status of an authorised economic operator (AEO) of the EU. The certification allows HUBER SE to benefit from customs simplifications (AEO C). Also our customers within the EU will now benefit from even more efficient processing of customs formalities. Furthermore, the AEO certification helps us to make international supply chains safer. Various criteria and requirements of the EU customs code, transposed into European law, must be met by applicants to obtain the AEO status. The legal provisions applicants have to meet include reliability, solvency and compliance with applicable laws and safety regulations. AEO certificates represent a quality seal for reliable business partners. HUBER SE has basically complied with the provisions for many years already as the necessary organisational measures have been taken that would systematically guarantee the compliance with applicable standards. This includes provisional measures, such as information and education of all employees concerned on the one hand and monitoring of relevant company-internal processes on the other hand. [...]It is a milestone in the 150-year company history of HUBER SE: On Monday, 10 January, HUBER SE welcomed its 800th employee at the company headquarters in Berching. Wilhelm Buchberger was received on his first day of work by the board members Georg Huber, Dr. Oliver Rong and Rainer Köhler as well as Georg Heinzelmann (Head of Project Management) and the HR department. Mr Buchberger officially joined the company on 1 January 2022 and will strengthen the project management team in the future. From a copper smithy to a leading global company: HUBER is growing steadily The growth in the number of employees over the past ten years alone is proof of the imposing development the company has taken: at the end of 2011, HUBER employed 603 people, but by 2014 the number had already risen to 694. In 2018, the 700 mark was reached with 703 employees at the end of the year (reporting date at the end of December). Wilhelm Buchberger is now HUBER's 800th employee – and the company's development suggests that the number of employees will continue to rise. Today, HUBER employs more than 1300 people worldwide. 150-year history (1872 – 2022): company always owned by the Huber family The fact that HUBER can welcome the 800th employee at the Berching site in its anniversary year is a double reason for joy. [...]Dale Foster, HUBER’s Area Manager , made a presentation on “Did we reach Utopia ? ” This presentation did not perfectly fit within the 'cross-sector collaboration' area, however, we wanted to share our experience of an exercise with a water company, which broke down many barriers and through the collaborative efforts of many stakeholders delivered exactly what the business needed. The challenge set was to deliver a cost effective/affordable, standard sludge thickening solution that met the clients exacting requirements and could be rolled out to multiple sites quickly and efficiently using a DfMA approach. The journey started quite a few years before the actual RFI was released and the presentation provided a road map of the trials, tribulations and eventual triumph of the process. For us, this was the best result of a collaborative exercise we have been involved with and it should deliver significant efficiencies and savings for the client. HUBER were awarded exclusively in October 2021 a Contract Award Notice for what is known as the Lot 4A Framework Agreement. The HUBER S-DISC Sludge thickener is the simplest & easiest to operate sludge thickener on the market. The two sizes have typical throughputs of up to 20 & 40 m3/hour on typical 0.5% DS SAS. When compared to competing technologies, such as drums & gravity belt thickeners (GBT) the HUBER S-DISC outperforms in many categories: Lower capital cost. Smaller, more compact footprint (physical &carbon). Lower wash water & polymer demand. Significantly reduced maintenance tasks. Lowest WLC. Visitors to our stand, were able to speak to our experienced team and discuss HUBER sludge solutions Sludge Screening, Sludge Thickening, Sludge Dewatering This year we showcased the new innovative Carbon Win® Process along with a model showing how this carbon reduction process and solution work. With the focus and drive in the industry for both energy and carbon reduction, the HUBER CarbonWin® Process ticks all the boxes. We provided an overview and a structured walk through of the drivers, solution, system design and options followed by the data supporting the performance of the process. We explained the benefits of the system which are an alternative to primary settlement tank construction on new works, space-saving integration into existing works to provide increased capacity and separation of primary sludge with a significant reduction in (COD/BOD/TSS) as well as significant energy savings through the reduction of the loading on the existing biological treatment systems on the works. This solution is well placed as a discussion point around the topic of minimising and decarbonising the use of energy in the sludge treatment processes and attendees took away some alternative ideas and options for how to optimise existing works and achieve more efficiency through design of new works.[...]
[...]Project Profile Buxton STW serves the town of Buxton and its surrounding areas, HUBER had been involved in the site since 2003 when a major upgrade was carried out the inlet works and a subsequent MBR plant was installed downstream. Since this project HUBER had been regularly engaged to look at improving the effectiveness of the inlet works and screenings handling plant to improve the screenings removal to lessen the impact on the downstream equipment, there were challenges surrounding this due to the location of the existing screens and macerator setup. As part of the AMP6 programme of works it was decided amongst other things that a new inlet works and screenings handling facility would be built to improve the screenings removal on an unused part of the site, the site is located in a narrow valley and space is limited. This lead to several challenges and involved a phased installation. HUBER Technology Supplied: 2 x HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax® 6000x1152/6 60o 6mm perforated plate screens. 2 x HUBER Screenings Wash Press WAP® L 4 screenings handling plant 1 x HUBER Launder Trough 1 x Static Stone Trap Objective The primary objective was to provide new 6mm inlet screening to protect the downstream process from screenings and other debris and also provide screenings handling plant to wash and compact the removed screenings. Solution As we had been involved in various aspects of the site since the original upgrade in 2003 we had a lot of knowledge of the existing inlet works and the problems it suffered with. By early engagement with both Severn Trent Water and the successful contractor Mott Macdonald Bentley we were able to involved with the project from the outset. Each screen supplied was required to handle a flow rate of 381 l/sec working on duty/duty basis with the subsequent screenings handling plant being able to handle 4m3/hr of screenings. A further challenge was the location of the screenings handling plant, this required in the region of 25 metres of launder trough to transport the screenings. The new inlet screenings solution has been found to be very effective. [...]HUBER Technology recently completed two projects for two hotels, one located in the North of Ireland and the second one located in Northern Ireland. Both of these projects improve the sewage treatment capacity for these resorts to reduce maintenance and downstream blockages. Project Profile Both of these projects were upgrades to the sites effluent treatment plant to include for a provision of upstream screening.
