HUBER SE opens fourth Global Service centre

Interview with Dieter Stichel, team leader of the new Global Service Centre West.

HUBER SE is expanding its presence in Germany: On 1 May 2025, the company officially opened the HUBER Global Service (GSE) Centre West in Neustadt/Wied. This expansion is a response to the company’s continuous growth, and aims to ensure short distances, fast response times, and closer customer support.

The new centre's catchment area covers around 450 wastewater treatment plants, for which HUBER manages over 300 service and maintenance contracts. Customers will benefit from direct access to qualified service technicians, faster response times in the event of equipment issues and the option to purchase spare parts and consumables on site. Regional training courses and service training sessions will also be offered in future, further increasing efficiency and planning reliability for plant operators.

Spanning over 800 square metres, the site combines offices and social facilities with a production hall, providing ample space for storing spare parts, carrying out repairs and performing pre-production work. This boosts the productivity and flexibility of service processes and creates the basis for training in-house specialists on site – a further step towards strengthening the regional workforce.

To find out more about the practical implementation at the site and the objectives for the GSE West base, we spoke to its team leader, Dieter Stichel.

Dieter, you have been managing the new GSE West base in Neustadt/Wied since 1 August 2025. How long have you been with HUBER?

Dieter Stichel: I joined HUBER in February 2017, and I am delighted to have taken over management of the new base.

How did you come to this position?

My career path has been varied. After completing an apprenticeship with the German Federal Railways and serving in the German Armed Forces for 15 months, I worked at Siemens for ten years. I then spent 21 years at the Freigericht Wastewater Association before joining HUBER as a commissioning engineer in 2017.

What appeals to you about the role of team leader?

I am particularly excited by the prospect of building a new site from the ground up and contributing my many years of experience to the process.

What are the objectives of the GSE West base for its first year?

Firstly, we want to introduce ourselves to our customers and establish ourselves as a reliable partner. We also aim to work efficiently from the outset and ensure quick response times.

What challenges do you expect to face during the set-up phase, and how will you tackle them?

The key is to establish structures and define processes while being ready for immediate deployment. My approach focuses on clear priorities, a pragmatic attitude and close teamwork.

What resources are crucial for a successful start?

Committed and well-trained staff, suitable infrastructure and the necessary equipment. Furthermore, sensible investments are important to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What benefits will the new base offer customers and staff?

For customers, it means shorter journey times, quicker problem resolution and a direct local point of contact. For our staff, the location offers ideal conditions for repairs, storing spare parts and service training, all in one place.

How do you ensure that service quality and customer satisfaction remain high?

By maintaining regular personal contact with our customers. It is important that they always know support is available and that they are well looked after.

Where do you see the base in two to three years' time?

As a training centre for apprentices, with around ten service technicians and well-established on-site training programmes.

Thank you very much for talking to us. With its fourth service centre in Germany, HUBER SE is focusing on fast response times, direct customer support and the training of skilled staff on site – a strategic step towards strengthening service processes in Germany.
