We Transform Future Impulses into Usable Solutions

Our goal is to develop solutions for water, wastewater and sewage sludge treatment that continue to set new standards in this field. These should not only take account of new social or legal requirements, but also significantly drive progress in terms of conserving our valuable resource, water.
In our innovation process, we transform the energy that reaches us through internal or external innovation impulses into innovative solutions that make a real difference in the market.
Our starting point is to look at various future possibilities and trends, from which we derive indicators for realistic developments and applications that can be used to create needs-based and customer-orientated solutions. This is reflected in the phases of our innovation process:
- Future Impulses: Foresight
- Developments: Ideation/Development/Testing
- Market-orientated Solutions: Impact im Markt

Foresight: Looking to The Future As An Impulse

The starting point and impetus for our innovation process is a look at different future possibilities and their probability of occurrence.
We look at the future scenarios within the following five areas of impact and derive which trends, currents and developments will have an influence on future applications:
Customer Needs, Market Trends, Applications
- We continuously identify the unfulfilled needs (pains & gains) of our customers in order to align innovations with customer needs and unsolved problems.
- Our innovations should enable our customers to fulfil their missions and achieve their goals.
- We identify new opportunities for future innovative solutions by observing the current and future application landscape.
New Technologies
- Technological innovations open up new fields of innovation. In addition to new approaches in mechanical and process engineering, these also include new technological possibilities in the field of digitalisation and sensor technology. We analyse what is happening in these areas in order to derive innovative solutions for our customers.
- Our aim is to continuously shift the state of the art towards higher-performance solutions.
Environmental Aspects
- Protecting the environment is at the centre of every innovation.
- We develop solutions to reduce the negative impact of humans on nature.
- We analyse what new challenges arise from changing climatic conditions and how we can provide future solutions for them.
Society
- Our products have a positive impact on our environment and society. Changes in people's habits and behavioural patterns or new requirements from society influence the solutions that will be needed in the future. We innovate in a way that benefits our customers and society.
Legal Regulations
- We develop solutions that enable our customers to comply with legal limits today and in the future.
Ideation/Development/Testing: Solution Development
Once specific challenges have been identified for which suitable solutions are needed, our innovation processes start with the impulse and transform it into ideas for solution concepts, initial testable prototypes and finally into marketable and application-ready products.
We use our expertise and core competences to make existing products even better and to develop new solutions and applications in close collaboration with our customers.
We also rely on close dialogue with customers and users. The suitability of solutions can already be validated in initial laboratory scale models and demonstration systems as well as containerised systems, which is also helpful at an early stage for planning and subsequent operation.
Impact in the Market: the Solutions
We don't leave it at theory; we transform impulses, trends and technological currents into practical solutions.
Take a look at some of the innovative solutions we have developed for today's most pressing challenges:

More Protection for Your Machines Thanks to Digital Solutions
Impulses:
- New technologies: Sensor technology/digitalisation opens up a new solution space for familiar problems.
- Customer needs and challenges: Coarse parts and critical contaminants jeopardise screening systems and downstream machines.
The Solution:
- Safety Vision: The innovative HUBER Detection System Safety Vision enables the screen to ‘see’ the screenings and reliably identify potentially critical contaminants. This is achieved by precise real-time measurement of the screenings with sensors, fast processing of the measurement results, and an intelligent evaluation logic that examines the measurement results for defined anomalies.

Mapping the 4th Treatment Stage with Our Machines
Impulses:
- Legal regulation: obligation for the 4th treatment stage
- Environmental aspects: reducing the impact of trace substances on aquatic ecosystems
Solutions:
- Reliable Machine Technology: for preliminary treatment
- Polishing Filter: reliable separation of powdered activated carbon
- Granulated Activated Carbon for easy elimination of trace substance
- HUBER solutions for trace substance elimination

Optimum Chemicals Dosing During Flotation
Impulses:
- Customer need: optimisation of operating costs through the most efficient use of personnel and chemicals
- Environmental aspects: Minimising the use of chemicals while maintaining the same high cleaning performance reduces environmental impact.
- New technologies: sensor technology for measuring purification efficiency for condition-controlled dosing
Solutions:
- HUBER Chemicals Dosing DIGIT-DOSE: Targeted dosing of chemicals in dissolved air flotation ensures better purification performance with less consumption, thus reducing operating and labour costs as well as negative impacts on the environment. Using chemicals more efficiently through intelligent, permanent control also leads to a noticeable reduction in flotation sludge. Disposing of this sludge is another significant cost factor.
